Who Can Apply?
- BS 4-year: Intermediate (HSC) or equivalent in the relevant group — Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, Science, Arts, Commerce, Home Economics or a relevant DAE.
- Minimum marks: about 45% for most programs and 50%+ for several. Popular programs close much higher — see the KU closing percentage.
- Test-based programs (Computer Science, Pharm-D, Chemical Engineering, DPT, BE/BS/B.Ed. streams, Visual Studies) also need the entry or aptitude test.
- BS 3rd Year (2-year BS): for graduates with a 14-year Bachelor’s (BA / BSc / BCom); merit is on the graduation percentage.
K, S and P Categories Explained

Each category has its own closing merit, so the same program can close at different percentages for K, S and P.

- Check your program’s eligibility and last year’s closing merit.
- Fill the online form on the KU admissions portal in the right window and pay Rs 5,000.
- For test-based programs, download your admit card and appear in the test.
- Check the admission list, then pay the fee in the fee-collection window to confirm your seat.

Evening program forms (BS 1st year, BS 3rd year, diplomas and certificates) are open from 2 to 11 November 2026. The BSCS/BSSE evening test is on 22 November and the admission list on 26 November 2026.

What is the minimum percentage for Karachi University admission?
Most programs need about 45% in Intermediate, some 50% or more. Popular programs such as Computer Science and Pharm-D close much higher.
Do I need a Karachi domicile for KU?
Not if you did Matric and Intermediate in Karachi — you apply in the K category without a domicile. If you studied outside Karachi, you need your parents’ Karachi domicile to apply in K.
